What this is — and what it isn't
This page is the most important one on the site. It sets out exactly what The Anchor is, what it will never be, and where to go for the things we do not do.
What The Anchor does
- Publishes free, plain-language material about stress and nervous system regulation.
- Argues in public that this knowledge should be ordinary rather than specialist.
- Talks to organisations about how work design affects strain, and about what responsible somatic education looks like.
What The Anchor does not do
None of the following is a matter of capacity or waiting lists. They are outside the project's purpose and always will be.
- Therapy or counselling. No sessions, no clients, no therapeutic relationship of any kind.
- Medical or psychological treatment. We do not treat stress, burnout, trauma, anxiety, depression or any other condition.
- Assessment or diagnosis. We cannot tell you what is wrong, and any text of ours that seems to describe you is a coincidence of general writing, not an observation about you.
- Personal advice. We do not answer "what should I do about my situation" by email. Not because we are unwilling, but because doing it responsibly requires knowing you, being qualified, and being accountable — and we are none of those things to you.
- Crisis or safeguarding work. We are not a helpline. Nobody monitors our inbox out of hours, at weekends, or with any urgency at all.
- Referrals. We do not maintain a list of recommended practitioners and cannot vouch for anyone.
Why we are this insistent about it
Stress and the nervous system have become marketing territory. The language of regulation is now used to sell breathwork certifications, cold plunges, courses and coaching, often by people with no training and no accountability, and often to people who are genuinely unwell and looking for help that exists elsewhere.
Two things follow from that. First, anyone publishing in this space has an obligation to state their limits as loudly as their claims. Second, a project that stays inside education has to be genuinely useful there — accurate, honest about uncertainty, and willing to say "we don't know" and "that is a question for a doctor".
If you are struggling
Please treat the list below as the real answer, not as small print. Nothing on this website is a substitute for talking to someone qualified, and a general practitioner is a reasonable first stop even when you are not sure the problem is medical.
How to reach us, and about what
Written enquiries about the project, its material, media requests or organisational work: anchor@fortara.org. We answer within about a week, in Swedish or English.
We cannot answer questions about your own health or situation, and we will say so rather than improvise an answer. That is not a brush-off — it is the only responsible reply we have.
